Joint Felicitation Ceremony Honors Hon. Saraswati Lama Hyolmo and NEFIN Chairperson Nima Lama Hyolmo 18 Baisakh 2083 B.S. (1 May 2026) On the auspicious occasion of the 2570th Buddha Jayanti, commemorating the Birth, Enlightenment and Mahaparinirvana of Lord Buddha, a Joint Felicitation and Honor Ceremony was successfully organized by the Nepal Hyolmo Social Service Association (Hyolmo Association), Hyolmo Social Service Center (Hyolmo Gumba), and the Nepal Hyolmo Women Association. The ceremony was held to honor two distinguished leaders of the Hyolmo community: Hon. Saraswati Lama Hyolmo who was recently elected as a Member of the House of Representatives of Nepal and Mr. Nima Lama Hyolmo who was elected as the Federal Chairperson of the Nepal Federation of Indigenous Nationalities (NEFIN) with an overwhelming majority during its 11th National Convention. The event took place at the Hyolmo Gumba Hall bringing together Hyolmo intellectuals, respected Lama Gurus, representatives of various organizations, community leaders, professionals and members of the Hyolmo community. Their presence reflected the community’s unity, pride and collective commitment to celebrating outstanding leadership and service. The program commenced with a welcome address by Mr. Urgen Hyolmo, Treasurer of Hyolmo Gumba and was skillfully moderated by Ms. Dolma Kumari Hyolmo, General Secretary of Hyolmo Gumba. The ceremony was chaired by Ms. Renzen Dolma Hyolmo, Central President of the Nepal Hyolmo Social Service Association. The event was further graced by Mr. Pasang Hyolmo, President of Hyolmo Gumba and Mr. Kinjo Omu Hyolmo, Central President of the Nepal Hyolmo Women Association who represented the organizing institutions. As a mark of appreciation and respect, Hon. Saraswati Lama Hyolmo and Mr. Nima Lama Hyolmo were presented with Special Recognition Certificates, a statue of Lord Buddha and traditional Khata scarves. Members of the Hyolmo community also offered Khata to the honorees, expressing their heartfelt congratulations and best wishes for continued success in their leadership and service. The ceremony concluded with a renewed commitment among participants to strengthen unity, preserve the rich cultural heritage of the Hyolmo people, and encourage greater representation and leadership of Indigenous communities at the national level.

15-Day Hyolmo Indigenous Women’s Empowerment and Awareness Program Concludes Successfully 22 Chaithra 2082 B.S. (4 April 2026) The 15-Day “Hyolmo Indigenous Women’s Empowerment and Awareness Enhancement Program,” organized by the Nepal Hyolmo Women Association with financial support from Gokarneshwor Municipality concluded successfully with a closing ceremony featuring a series of meaningful activities. The closing ceremony was chaired by Mr. Kinjo Omu Hyolmo Central President of the Nepal Hyolmo Women Association and honored by the presence of Ms. Sannani Lama Deputy Mayor of Gokarneshwor Municipality as the Chief Guest. The program was attended by several distinguished guests including Mr. Rajiv Thapa Ward Chairperson of Ward No. 9, Gokarneshwor Municipality Mr. Pasang Wangchu Hyolmo, Executive Committee Member of Gokarneshwor Municipality Mr. Binod Lama Hyolmo, the first Hyolmo diplomatn Ms. Renzen Dolma Hyolmo, Central President of the Nepal Hyolmo Social Service Association and Mr. Pasang Dongba Hyolmo President of Hyolmo Gumba. Other honored guests included Mr. Suman Lama, Member of the Good Governance Committee of Gokarneshwor Municipality; Ms. Nima Yangchen Hyolmo Former President of the Nepal Hyolmo Women Association; resource persons Dr. Aruna Upreti; Mr. Ang Babu Lama Hyolmo Gold Medalist Tai Chi Coach and Mr. Lhakpa Hyolmo, Institutional Development Trainer. The program began with a welcome address delivered by Ms. Phento Hyolmo, Vice President of the Nepal Hyolmo Women Association while the event was skillfully hosted by Mr. Mingmar Omu Hyolmo General Secretary of the Association. As part of the closing ceremony, the Tai Chi instructor and participants presented an impressive Tai Chi Demonstration before the Chief Guest, special guests and other distinguished attendees showcasing the knowledge and skills acquired during the training. During the ceremony, Deputy Mayor Ms. Sannani Lama presented Certificates of Completion and Certificates of Appreciation to all participants and trainers in recognition of their successful participation and contribution to the program. Mr. Rajiv Thapa, Ward Chairperson of Ward No. 9, honored the participants and trainers by presenting them with traditional Khata scarves as a symbol of respect and congratulations. The program concluded on a positive note, reflecting the shared commitment of the organizers, local government, trainers and participants to promoting women’s empowerment, leadership, awareness, health and the preservation of the cultural identity of the Hyolmo Indigenous community. Nepal Hyolmo Women Association Participates in the Popular Television Program Damphu Selo 15 Chaitra 2082 B.S. (29 March 2026) Representatives of the Hyolmo community participated in an episode of the popular television program “Damphu Selo,” broadcast by Indigenous Television and ITV Nepal celebrating the rich cultural heritage and identity of Nepal’s Indigenous communities. The program featured Mr. Nima Lama Hyolmo, the newly elected Chairperson of the Nepal Federation of Indigenous Nationalities (NEFIN), as the Chief Guest. Joining him as distinguished guests were Ms. Renzen Dolma Hyolmo, President of the Nepal Hyolmo Social Service Association and Mr. Kinjo Omu Hyolmo President of the Nepal Hyolmo Women Association. The event was further honored by the presence of Ms. Kanchhi Dolma Hyolmo, the first Hyolmo woman to summit Mount Everest; Mr. Mingmar Omu Hyolmo, former General Secretary of Hyolmo Gumba; and Mr. Lakpa Lama Hyolmo journalist and member of the Hyolmo Media Group. During the program, artists of Damphu Selo presented a vibrant Sherpa Nadhing musical performance, entertaining the Hyolmo audience while celebrating the community’s cultural traditions, music and heritage. Meaningful Participation of the Hyolmo Community at the Nepal Indigenous Knowledge Conference 2082 On the occasion of the Silver Jubilee Celebration of the National Foundation for Development of Indigenous Nationalities (NFDIN), Government of Nepal, and the Nepal Indigenous Knowledge Conference (25–27 Magh 2082 B.S.) the Hyolmo community made a meaningful contribution through active participation and representation. During the conference, Mr. Kinjo Omu Hyolmo, a Member of the Governing Council of the National Foundation for Development of Indigenous Nationalities (NFDIN), Central Advisor of the Nepal Hyolmo Social Service Association and Central President of the Nepal Hyolmo Women Association served as the Master of Ceremonies (MC) in the Hyolmo mother tongue highlighting the importance of preserving and promoting Indigenous languages in national forums. The conference also witnessed the active and meaningful participation of representatives from both the Nepal Hyolmo Social Service Association and the Nepal Hyolmo Women Association ndemonstrating the Hyolmo community’s continued commitment to safeguarding Indigenous knowledge, language, culture and identity while contributing to national dialogue on Indigenous peoples’ rights and heritage. The participation of the Hyolmo community reflected its dedication to promoting cultural diversity, preserving traditional knowledge and strengthening the representation of Indigenous peoples at the national level.

15th Annual General Meeting of the Nepal Hyolmo Women Association Successfully Concluded 11 Asoj 2082 B.S. (27 September 2025) The 15th Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Nepal Hyolmo Women Association – Central Committee was successfully held at Hyolmo Gumba, Tinchuli bringing together members, leaders and distinguished guests to review the organization’s achievements and strengthen its commitment to empowering Hyolmo women. The program was graced by Mr. Binod Lama Hyolmo, the first diplomat from the Hyolmo community as the Chief Guest. The ceremony was further honored by the presence of distinguished guests including Ms. Pemba Lama Hyolmo, the first Hyolmo woman elected as a Member of Parliament and Member of the Second Constituent Assembly; Ms. Renjen Dolma Hyolmo, Central President of the Nepal Hyolmo Social Service Association (Hyolmo Sangh), the umbrella organization of the Hyolmo Indigenous community; Mr. Ang Dawa Hyolmo, social worker and architect; and Ms. Nima Yangchhen Hyolmo Immediate Past President of the Nepal Hyolmo Women Association. The meeting was chaired by Ms. Kinjo Omu Hyolmo, President of the Nepal Hyolmo Women Association while the proceedings were moderated by Ms. Mingmar Omu Hyolmo General Secretary. During the assembly, the Annual Progress Report presented by General Secretary Ms. Mingmar Omu Hyolmo and the Financial Report presented by Treasurer Ms. Chho Pema Hyolmo were discussed and unanimously approved by the members. The Annual General Meeting concluded with a heartfelt Vote of Thanks delivered by President Ms. Kinjo Omu Hyolmo, who expressed sincere appreciation to all members, supporters, past and present leaders and well-wishers for their invaluable contributions and continued dedication to advancing the mission of the Nepal Hyolmo Women Association. The successful completion of the 15th Annual General Meeting reaffirmed the Association’s commitment to empowering Hyolmo women, preserving Indigenous culture and heritage, promoting inclusive leadership, and serving the community with unity and dedication.
