About Us
Our Story
The Nepal Hyolmo Women Association (NHWA) was established in 2006 by visionary Hyolmo women who recognized the need for a dedicated platform to advance the rights, dignity and leadership of Indigenous women.
The Hyolmo community carries a rich cultural, spiritual, linguistic and historical identity. Yet many Hyolmo women - particularly those from rural, remote, and economically vulnerable backgrounds - continue to face systemic barriers to education, health services, leadership participation, and economic opportunity.
NHWA was formed to change that: to create a common platform where Hyolmo women could learn, organize, lead and advocate for their own well-being.
Over the years, we have grown into a trusted community institution, actively engaged in women's movements, Indigenous peoples' rights initiatives, health campaigns and social development efforts - serving as a strategic bridge between tradition and progress.
